Air New Zealand Opens January Sale With Low Fares Across Its Global Network

Air New Zealand has confirmed the launch of its largest New Year sale for 2026, running from 7 to 19 January. The promotion covers the airline’s full route network, including domestic services, Australia, Pacific islands, North America and Asia. According to the carrier, these fares rank among the lowest of the year, with limited seat availability and specific travel periods applying.
Sample fares included in the New Year sale
Domestic New Zealand
- Flights starting at NZ$69 one way on routes such as Auckland–Gisborne, Auckland–Napier and Christchurch–Dunedin
- Main trunk routes included, with Auckland–Wellington and Auckland–Christchurch from NZ$79, and Auckland–Queenstown from NZ$99
Australia and Pacific Islands
- One-way fares to Brisbane from NZ$215 and Sydney from NZ$225
- Pacific destinations such as Nadi, Apia and Niue starting from NZ$228
Long-haul fares to North America and Asia
- North American routes priced from NZ$499 to Honolulu, NZ$599 to Los Angeles and NZ$799 to New York
- Asian destinations including Shanghai from NZ$529, Bali from NZ$579 and Hong Kong from NZ$599
These fares apply to selected economy seats and travel windows later in 2026, with conditions depending on destination and season.
The sale makes a broader range of destinations more realistic, especially for people planning longer trips beyond New Zealand and Australia. Fiji, Samoa and the Cook Islands are easier to schedule outside the busiest months. Lower fares to North America and Asia help keep longer trips, family visits and stopovers within reach for many travellers.
By opening bookings early, the sale gives travellers time to plan ahead of the busiest months and assess costs sooner. Seats are limited, but early bookings usually come with more choice across routes and dates. January has become the point when many long-haul trips are locked in, before demand builds and fares start rising later in the year.
