Ryanair has announced that it will introduce direct flights from Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester to Rovaniemi, Finland, for the Winter 2025/26 season. The routes are scheduled to operate twice a week from late autumn 2025 until early 2026, covering the busiest months for travel to Finnish Lapland. This expansion provides a straightforward link for passengers travelling from the UK to one of Europe’s most distinctive winter destinations.

These flights will link Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester directly to Rovaniemi, the heart of Finnish Lapland and a city nestled inside the Arctic Circle. Rovaniemi is well known as a central place for winter travel in Lapland, drawing people with its deep snow, icy cold weather and seasonal customs found only in this part of the Arctic. The city also serves as a transport gateway to many smaller Lapland communities and natural sites that are otherwise harder to reach.

Christmas has come early for our UK customers with the launch of Ryanair’s Winter 2025/26 Lapland schedule, offering 2x weekly return flights across three new routes, Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester.

Santa Claus Village is one of the most visited places in winter, open all season and marking the point where the Arctic Circle runs through. Visitors can meet reindeer herders, take sleigh rides through snowy tracks and send mail from the Santa Claus Post Office, which handles letters from around the world. Another popular site is SantaPark Arctic World, an underground winter attraction shaped like a Christmas village, with ice sculptures, craft areas and performances showing Lapland’s seasonal traditions.

Outside the city, Korouoma Canyon is known in winter for its frozen waterfalls, creating dramatic landscapes that draw ice climbers during the chilliest part of the season. Pyhä-Luosto National Park is another highlight, with marked snowshoe and skiing trails and guided trips into remote areas for northern lights viewing far from city lights. These destinations give travellers a clear view of the activities available outdoors in Lapland during mid-winter.

By introducing these flights, Ryanair provides UK travellers with faster access to Lapland at a time when the region’s natural beauty and cultural traditions are at their most striking. With fewer flights to change along the way, travellers can spend more of their time actually exploring and enjoying the Arctic scenery. Anyone arranging a winter break for late 2025 or early 2026 can use these new flights to blend cultural experiences, outdoor activities and seasonal celebrations into a single journey.
