Right to Breathe: Projects Aimed at Fighting for Clean Air Worldwide

Around the world, air quality and pollution pose an acute problem that requires immediate resolution. Thick smoke shrouds most industrial cities, and a large number of land vehicles generate new emissions every day, negatively impacting health and the environment, including accelerating the process of glacier melting.

Fuel production from pollutants

 Scientists from the University of Antwerp and KU Leuven have discovered a new method that simultaneously cleans the air and produces hydrogen fuel. This system operates on a device with solar panels and special membranes that simultaneously filter the air and produce fuel.

Nanjing Vertical Forest

The project to build Asia's largest vertical forest was implemented in Jiangsu Province, China. It consists of 3,000 plants that absorb 25 tons of carbon dioxide and produce 60 kg of oxygen daily.

CityTree Project

The German startup Green City Solutions has proposed a new concept for combating air pollution called CityTree. The idea is to create more green spaces/blocks with lichens and moss, which can absorb 240 tons of carbon dioxide. This is equivalent to the work of 275 trees.

Air-Ink Project

This project from Graviky Labs involves the extraction of carbon from emissions that can be mixed with various oils and solutions to make ink. Thus, one balloon of ink actually equals 30-50 minutes of air pollution.
