At the 55th International Paris Air Show, Qatar Airways announced that its upcoming Boeing 777-9 aircraft will feature a new digital cabin management system. This system, developed in partnership with Panasonic Avionics and based on the Converix platform, is intended to combine inflight entertainment, seat control, and lighting functions into one centralized interface. The airline stated that the new setup will be accessible through a single screen installed at each passenger seat.

The revised configuration is expected to replace multiple separate control units currently found on long-haul aircraft. Passengers will be able to perform basic onboard tasks such as adjusting lighting, screen brightness, or seat position using one integrated panel. The design aims to reduce hardware complexity and streamline user interaction by concentrating all essential cabin settings into a single, consistent display.

Qatar Airways also confirmed that modular system architecture will be introduced across its 777-9 fleet. This approach is intended to ensure uniform system performance and interface design regardless of the specific aircraft in operation. Key cabin functions, including lighting presets and layout schemes, are expected to follow the same structure across flights, contributing to a more standardized passenger experience throughout the network.

According to the airline, the interface is being developed to allow passengers to access key cabin features without needing to request assistance from crew members. The system lets passengers adjust things like lighting or entertainment directly from their screen, without needing help from the crew. That’s especially useful during overnight flights or long trips when most people just want to relax quietly without being disturbed.

The introduction of this system reflects a change in how cabin technology is being integrated on new-generation aircraft. Settings that once required several touchpoints or manual controls are now being grouped into a single digital format. While the system has been publicly presented, Qatar Airways has not yet provided a specific timeline for when it will be rolled out into active service.
