Pegasus Airlines has launched direct flights between Izmir and Barcelona, connecting Turkey's Aegean coast with the Spanish region of Catalonia. The new flight began operating on October 24, 2025, between Barcelona-El Prat Airport and Izmir-Adnan Menderes Airport. It is another step toward improving air travel between regions in Europe in response to the growing demand for routes across the Mediterranean for both business and leisure travel.

Flights on the Izmir–Barcelona route operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays. Departures from Izmir are scheduled for 10:55, while return flights from Barcelona leave at 14:30, shifting to 13:30 after the transition to wintertime. Starting from 7 December 2025, an additional Sunday service will be added. Tickets are available through Pegasus’s official channels, with prices beginning at approximately £49.99 or €54.99.

The new connection makes it possible for two important Mediterranean cities that are important for culture and business to have direct flights to each other. It eliminates the need to connect through Istanbul or other European hubs. Travelers can now move between western Türkiye and northeastern Spain more quickly and easily. This route also helps Pegasus Airlines expand its network and strengthen connections to major European cities.

Izmir invites travelers to explore a variety of attractions, from the historic Kemeraltı Bazaar and lively Alsancak waterfront to renowned archaeological sites like Ephesus and Pergamon. Located on the Aegean coast, the city provides easy access to beautiful seaside towns such as Cesme and Alacati, which are renowned for their beaches and traditional charm. These destinations contribute to Izmir's reputation as one of Turkey's most visited regions.

Barcelona is still one of Spain's top tourist destinations. Its famous landmarks include Antoni Gaudí's buildings, the Gothic Quarter, and the beaches of Barceloneta. The new route makes it easy for people from Türkiye to get to the capital of Catalonia without having to change trains. For travelers, this new route means more direct connections in Southern Europe, which will help tourism and travel across the Mediterranean.
