Direct flights linking London Stansted and Munich will resume with Lufthansa for the Oktoberfest period, running from 19 September through 5 October. The airline plans to operate 14 evening flights using Airbus A320 aircraft, departing at 19:50 and arriving in Munich at 22:30 local time. These flights provide travelers from London and the East of England with easier access to Munich throughout the festival.

The return of these flights offers several benefits for travelers:

  • Avoiding the need to transfer through larger London airports, reducing overall travel time
  • Convenient arrival times aligned with Oktoberfest’s opening ceremony on 20 September
  • Flexibility to extend the stay and explore Munich’s local attractions
  • Opportunity to attend the Bundesliga match featuring Bayern Munich on 26 September
We’re delighted to once again partner with London Stansted to offer a seamless connection to Munich just in time for Oktoberfest – a celebration like no other. Lufthansa is proud to bring travellers the ease and convenience of flying from their local airport to experience this iconic event.
Silvia Hadolt, Head of Regional Sales Northern Europe, Lufthansa Group

Oktoberfest, held annually in Munich’s Theresienwiese Park, is one of the world’s largest cultural festivals, attracting millions of visitors each year. The festival highlights Bavarian culture with live music, classic dishes such as bratwursts, and the well-known one-litre beer mugs known as Masskrugs. The festival lasts for over two weeks, giving visitors plenty of time to experience authentic German traditions and celebrations.

Being able to fly straight to Munich makes the journey easier for those visiting Oktoberfest, especially when travel is at its busiest. Flying from a regional airport such as London Stansted offers a more accessible route for those living beyond central London, helping them avoid the added stress and time involved in travelling to larger airports or making multiple connections.

This development highlights the importance of regional air connectivity in supporting access to major international events. By restoring direct flights during Oktoberfest, Lufthansa addresses demand for convenient travel options and helps travelers optimize their plans. For travellers planning a trip to Munich this autumn, these flights offer a more straightforward way to reach one of Europe’s major cultural events.
