As interest in vegan food continues to grow around the world, Emirates is responding to a 40% increase in customer demand for plant-based meals.

In 2024, the airline plans to introduce a variety of new vegan dishes on board and in the lounges, expanding its existing "vegan menu" with more than 300 plant-based recipes, Freepressjournal.in reports.

In 2023, Emirates served over 300 vegan recipes in 140 countries, up from 180 recipes in 2022.

The airline served over 450,000 plant-based meals on board in 2023, a significant increase from the 280,000 served in 2022.

Vegan food consumption grew by 40% year-on-year, with some regions such as Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East experiencing additional growth.

The largest surge in vegan food consumption was observed in economy class.

Since 2018, Emirates flight attendants have also switched to a plant-based diet.

In economy class, passengers can enjoy dishes such as chickpea pancakes, tofu tikka masala, and chickpea stew with parsley pilaf rice.

Premium Economy offers dishes such as curry with jackfruit, zucchini and chestnut stew, chocolate tofu cheesecake, and raspberry parfait.

Business Class offers roasted cauliflower with ancient grains, Asian tofu stew, tropical coconut pineapple pie, and more.

First class passengers enjoy dishes such as creamy polenta pie, eggplant curry, rhubarb and strawberry charlotte, and warm chocolate fudge.
