Edinburgh Reveals Plans for December’s Night Afore Show
Edinburgh will begin its annual Hogmanay celebrations with the Night Afore Concert on 30 December 2025 at West Princes Street Gardens. Scottish folk-rock band Peat & Diesel will headline the event, joined by accordion musician RuMac. The outdoor concert, held beneath Edinburgh Castle, is part of the city’s wider New Year programme. Organisers describe it as an all-standing event with various ticket options and entry points available to the public.
This will be Peat & Diesel’s first performance at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay. The concert is expected to attract around 5,000 attendees, with both general admission and premium viewing areas available. Ticket prices range from £32.50 to £60.00, excluding booking fees. Admission is limited to people aged 12 and over, and under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with performances scheduled to start at approximately 7 p.m.
The Night Afore Concert forms part of the city’s wider winter festivities, which run through to New Year’s Day. Visitors can expect a large outdoor gathering featuring live performances, public catering, and festive lighting displays. Since the event is in December, people who are going should be ready for cold and possibly wet weather. The concert serves as a prelude to the traditional Hogmanay street celebrations taking place the following evening.
Access to West Princes Street Gardens will be through several designated gates, including Bank Street, Princes Street, and Kings Stables Road. Security checks will be in place, and event organisers have confirmed restrictions on large bags, drones, and outside alcohol. Re-entry will not be permitted once inside the venue. Onsite facilities will include toilets, food outlets, and bars accessible to ticket holders throughout the event.
