Brussels Airlines is increasing its summer capacity with a fleet of 50 aircraft, up from 44 last year. The airline added one Airbus A320 and one Airbus A330 to its own fleet while also deploying four Airbus A220 planes operated by Air Baltic through a wet-lease agreement. The expansion is intended to handle close to two million passengers during the busy holiday period and to increase flight options on popular routes.

For passengers, the expanded fleet provides increased flexibility and a wider range of departure times during the high-demand summer season. This growth lowers the likelihood of flights selling out, allowing for easier planning around preferred travel dates. The added aircraft also give the airline more flexibility to deal with unforeseen delays or maintenance needs, lowering the risk of schedule interruptions.

Demand remains high for flights to Southern Europe, especially to:

  • Spain
  • Italy
  • Greece
  • Portugal

The airline serves destinations such as Barcelona, where visitors can explore Park Güell, take a ride on the Montjuïc cable car, or walk along La Barceloneta beach. Italy’s Naples is also popular, offering access to Spaccanapoli street, the Royal Palace gardens, and the seaside Castel dell’Ovo. Increased flight availability is benefiting travellers heading to these destinations.

In Greece, flights to Thessaloniki provide easy access to the Petralona Cave, Halkidiki’s beaches, and the historic Ano Poli district. Oporto in Portugal, which is becoming increasingly popular, offers visitors the chance to walk across the famous Dom Luís I Bridge, enjoy boat trips on the Douro River, or visit the well-known Lello Bookstore. Passengers benefit from more frequent flights, making it easier to explore these famous sites at convenient times.

Alongside fleet growth, the airline has improved ground operations by doubling bag-drop capacity at Brussels Airport. This upgrade is expected to speed up check-in for passengers who have already checked in online. These updates are meant to improve how smoothly passengers can travel during the crowded summer season and help make popular holiday spots easier to reach.
