Airbus Reveals Double-Bed First Class Concept for A350-1000

Airbus has presented a new First Class cabin concept for the A350-1000 during the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) 2026. The design introduces a central "First Class Master Suite" created for two passengers, featuring a double bed, lounge-style seating and additional private space. The concept reflects ongoing interest among airlines in expanding premium cabin options on long-haul aircraft designed for flagship routes.

The Master Suite is positioned between the aircraft’s two aisles and includes access to a dedicated lavatory, changing area, bar and storage space. Airbus designers focused on creating a more private setting by arranging suites in a 1-1-1 layout across the cabin, allowing three suites per row. The configuration aims to increase personal space while maintaining the wide interior proportions already characteristic of the A350-1000.

To make this layout possible, part of the floor area between Doors 1 and 2 has been reorganised. Lavatories, storage units and access to the forward crew rest area are moved into a separate central module near the aircraft entrance. This change frees more room for passenger suites and reduces movement through the main cabin area. The concept also introduces sculptured ceiling panels and integrated lighting features designed to emphasise the aircraft’s interior dimensions.

Airbus states that interest in First Class cabins on the A350 continues to grow, with several airlines already including this cabin type in their aircraft orders. Around five carriers are currently working on customisation options, and the manufacturer indicates that elements of the new concept could appear in service closer to 2030. Discussions with additional airlines are ongoing as part of future product development.

The concept highlights how airlines are paying more attention to cabin layout and onboard comfort when developing their most premium products. More private space, new suite arrangements and additional onboard facilities show how First Class may change in the coming years. Although the design is still a concept, it indicates how airlines are considering different ways to organise space for passengers choosing the highest cabin category.
