airBaltic has started direct flights linking Gran Canaria, Spain, with Molde, Norway. The route started on 5 November 2025 and operates once a week, every Wednesday, until early April 2026. The flight lasts just under six hours and provides a direct option between the Canary Islands and Scandinavia during the winter period. It is part of the airline’s expanding seasonal base at Gran Canaria Airport.

The new connection is designed to attract more visitors from Norway during the colder season, while also offering residents of Gran Canaria an easy route to explore the landscapes of western Norway. According to airBaltic’s Chief Commercial Officer, Thomas Ramdahl, the addition strengthens tourism and opens new opportunities for both leisure and business travel. The partnership with local authorities supports the island’s long-term goal of maintaining strong year-round air access to Europe.

“The new route between the two cities is expected to attract more tourists from Norway to Gran Canaria during the colder months, when travelers in Northern Europe are seeking sunny and warm destinations, while also providing residents of Gran Canaria the opportunity to explore Norway’s stunning natural landscapes. We are grateful to our partners in Gran Canaria for supporting this expansion, which improves the island’s connectivity to a variety of destinations in Europe."
Thomas Ramdahl, Chief Commercial Officer at airBaltic

Flights are operated by the Airbus A220-300, airBaltic’s signature aircraft, known for its comfort and efficiency. The cabin features wide seats, larger windows, and generous hand luggage space. The airline has also equipped part of its fleet with free high-speed SpaceX Starlink internet, making it the first European carrier to introduce this feature. The connection between Gran Canaria and Molde joins a group of seven winter routes linking the island with cities such as Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Billund, Oslo Torp, and Ljubljana.

The new route opens an easier way to reach different parts of Europe. From Gran Canaria, travellers can now fly directly to Norway’s fjord country and explore its quiet coastal towns. For those coming from Molde, the connection offers a straightforward route to the Canary Islands - a destination renowned for its open beaches, volcanic scenery, and mild weather, even in midwinter.

This expansion marks a steady step in airBaltic’s presence across southern Europe. By connecting two places that couldn’t be more different in landscape and climate, the airline opens a route that blends contrasts, where travellers can spend one week among Norway’s snowy peaks and the next walking the warm shores of Gran Canaria.
