AirAsia X Expands Southeast Asia Central Asia Connectivity with Kuala Lumpur Tashkent Service
AirAsia X will begin operating three weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur and Tashkent, Uzbekistan, starting 15 October 2025. Singaporean travellers can connect to this route via Kuala Lumpur using AirAsia’s Fly-Thru service, which offers coordinated transfers and through-checked baggage on a single booking. This new route builds on AirAsia X’s earlier entry into Central Asia via flights to Almaty, Kazakhstan, which strengthened connections between Southeast Asia and the area.
This route provides a more direct and convenient alternative for travellers heading to Uzbekistan, avoiding complex and time-consuming connections through Europe or the Middle East. With up to 11 daily flights from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, passengers have flexible options to plan their trips efficiently. Tashkent is becoming an increasingly popular destination due to its cultural heritage and growing economic significance.
Travellers in Tashkent have access to key sites including Chorsu Bazaar, an energetic marketplace with local delicacies and artisan goods; Amir Timur Square, distinguished by its iconic statue and surrounding greenery; and the Tashkent TV Tower, which features observation decks overlooking the cityscape. These sites offer varied experiences of the city’s culture, history, and urban landscape without relying on traditional museums.
Beyond the city, travellers have the chance to visit natural and countryside attractions like the Chimgan Mountains, famous for hiking paths and mountain landscapes; the Charvak Reservoir, a favored destination for swimming, boating, and picnics; and the village of Sukok, surrounded by walnut forests, providing opportunities for eco-tourism and genuine rural experiences. These nearby spots offer options for recreation and outdoor activities outside the urban area.
This new air route marks a notable step in making Central Asia more accessible to travellers from Southeast Asia, encouraging broader travel patterns beyond established routes.
