Libya is not a very popular tourist destination, even though it borders on the resort of Egypt. It ranks fourth in Africa in terms of size, but almost all of the territory is not suitable for living and recreation.

You can find some interesting historical sites in Libya, but crossing the entire country is a dubious plan. TravelWise has collected three interesting facts about the African country.

Libya is almost one continuous desert

Deserts cover 98% of the country's territory, so you can only relax by the water. In Libya, on the Mediterranean coast, there are ruins of the ancient Phoenician city of Leptis Magna, which was called "Rome in Africa". The city is perfectly preserved and used to be a center of tourism.

Dinner is not recognized here

In Libya, people are used to eating two meals a day - a hearty breakfast and lunch, but no dinner. Many Libyan restaurants are not open in the evenings because no one goes there.

There are very few animals and plants in Libya

Due to the arid climate, trees, shrubs, flowers, etc. grow very poorly here. Animals are also in trouble. Those species that remain have adapted to life in the desert, while others have a very difficult time.
