Wizz Air Adds Seven New Routes from Sofia, Opening More Travel Options in 2025

Wizz Air has detailed an expansion at Sofia Airport, which includes deploying a seventh aircraft and opening seven new direct flight routes starting between October 2025 and March 2026. These routes will connect Sofia with several cities across Europe and North Africa, increasing travel options for passengers departing from the Bulgarian capital.
Annual seat capacity from Sofia Airport will increase by more than 100,000 as a result of this expansion, with Wizz Air expected to offer around 1.29 million seats each year. Alongside the newly added routes, the airline plans to increase the number of weekly flights on four current routes: Barcelona, Hamburg, Milan-Bergamo, and Basel. With these updates, travelers are likely to benefit from a broader selection of routes and more adaptable scheduling throughout the year.

Travelers will find it more convenient to visit several popular cities and landmarks. In Prague, visitors can walk the historic Charles Bridge, enjoy panoramic views from Petrin Hill Observation Tower, and stroll through Letná Park. In Marrakesh, visitors can experience the busy city atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fnaa, unwind in Majorelle Garden, and explore hiking routes in the surrounding Atlas Mountains.
Warsaw, Turin, and Chișinău each offer a different perspective for travelers. Łazienki Park, the Vistula River boulevards, and the Warsaw Uprising Monument are among the key public spaces in the city. Turin offers attractions like the Mole Antonelliana tower, Valentino Park along the Po River, and the hilltop Superga Basilica. Chișinău offers visitors green spaces like Cathedral Park, the Dendrarium botanical garden, and the lakeside area of Valea Morilor.

The recent increase in routes and capacity is making it easier and more convenient for passengers to travel from Sofia. The updated schedule aims to ease pressure during busy travel periods and give passengers more choice, whether flying for work or leisure. Passenger traffic at Sofia Airport continues to rise, reinforcing its emerging role as a growing hub for both regional and international travel.
