United Airlines plane makes emergency landing at Ohio airport due to malfunction
A United Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 made an emergency landing at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE), Ohio, where it had started its flight. The crew reportedly warned controllers during the flight about an engine malfunction and the need to land the plane.
The plane took off from CLE at 16:43 local time on January 5, 2024, and was heading to Denver International Airport (DEN), Colorado. According to Simple Flying, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 landed safely at 18:08 due to a technical malfunction.
The airline promptly transferred passengers to another plane, which departed on the same route at 20:58 local time.
The carrier's statement reads, "Our team at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport assisted passengers on Flight 486 (Cleveland to Denver), which returned to Cleveland today to resolve a mechanical issue. We have arranged for another aircraft to take our customers to their destinations."
It was not reported what caused the problem or what condition the plane is in now. No one was injured in the incident.
