UN Hosts First Regional Forum on Gastronomy Tourism in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), in collaboration with the Basque Culinary Center and the Government of Zimbabwe, will host the inaugural UN Tourism Regional Forum on Gastronomy Tourism for Africa from July 26 to 28, 2024. The event will take place in the scenic town of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, and aims to explore the potential of gastronomy tourism as a key driver for Africa's global tourism competitiveness.

Gastronomy tourism has gained prominence as travelers increasingly seek authentic culinary experiences. This trend offers significant opportunities for sustainable development, cultural exchange, and the empowerment of local communities. The forum will bring together destinations and international experts to discuss the transformative impact of gastronomy tourism, promoting regional cohesion and resilience.
