Park & Ride Service Eases Travel for Mouth of the Tyne Festival

As North Tyneside gears up for the 18th annual Mouth of the Tyne Festival this July, travelers can expect a smoother experience with the introduction of a new Park & Ride service. This initiative is set to address the anticipated parking challenges in Tynemouth, making the festival more accessible to visitors.

The festival, a staple summer event, will feature live music concerts at Tynemouth Priory & Castle, family-friendly street performances, live jazz, activities for young children, and a colorful parade involving local schoolchildren and community groups. However, the influx of festival-goers is expected to make parking in Tynemouth a challenge.

To alleviate this issue, Northstar, in partnership with Nexus and North Tyneside Council, will operate a free Park & Ride service on Saturday, July 13, and Sunday, July 14. This service is designed to ease the journey for visitors by providing convenient transportation from Beaconsfield, located on the Tynemouth seafront near Tynemouth Aquarium, to Tynemouth Village on Percy Park Road.

Travelers can park their cars at the Beaconsfield Car Park for a fee and then use the free bus service to get to and from the festival site. The buses will run every 20 minutes, with service times from 10:00 AM to 6:20 PM on Saturday and from 10:00 AM to 7:35 PM on Sunday.

This Park & Ride service is a significant boon for festival attendees, ensuring they can enjoy the event without the stress of finding parking. It highlights a thoughtful approach to managing large crowds and enhancing the visitor experience.
