Flydubai Launches New Direct Flights To Lesser-Known European Cities

flydubai has introduced four new direct routes from Dubai to Iași, Riga and Vilnius. Flights to Chișinău in Moldova and Iași in Romania are set to begin in September 2025. Services to Riga in Latvia and Vilnius in Lithuania will start in December. The new routes are aimed at improving flight access between the UAE and smaller cities in Eastern and Northern Europe.
With these additions, flydubai became the first airline from the United Arab Emirates to offer nonstop flights to Iași. The launch supports the airline’s broader goal of improving access to secondary European cities. It also reflects a shift in travel demand, with more passengers showing interest in routes beyond traditional tourist hubs. This move is expected to benefit both leisure and business travellers seeking direct links to new destinations.

In Chișinău, visitors have the chance to explore both Moldova’s green environments and its important cultural heritage. Among the main attractions is the ancient rock-cut monastery complex of Orheiul Vechi. In Iași, travelers can visit the Palace of Culture as well as the Anastasie Fătu Botanical Garden, Romania’s oldest botanical garden. Užupis, one of the city’s most distinctive neighbourhoods, is known for its strong artistic identity and alternative spirit.
Riga offers a well-maintained medieval old town, impressive Art Nouveau architecture, and a thriving market situated in old hangars along the Daugava River. Vilnius is distinguished by its baroque architecture, quaint cobblestone paths, and the breathtaking views available from Gediminas Tower. Užupis, one of the city’s most distinctive neighbourhoods, is known for its strong artistic identity and alternative spirit.

These new connections provide greater flexibility and efficiency for travelers looking to discover cities that are often overlooked on typical European itineraries. Without the need for connections, travelers can more easily access cities known for their rich heritage and distinctive character. This step opens up more travel possibilities and shows that travelers are increasingly seeking authentic local experiences across Europe.
