New Shuttle Bus Service Enhances Travel Experience in Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park

Travelers can now explore Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park with greater ease and environmental consciousness, thanks to a new shuttle bus service launched this summer. The Trossachs Explorer, a pilot project introduced by the National Park Authority, provides a convenient and sustainable transportation option for visitors.

Running between Aberfoyle and Callander from July 1 to September 30, the Trossachs Explorer stops at popular sites such as Loch Katrine, Ben A’an, and Ben Venue. This new service aims to reduce car emissions and alleviate parking issues, making it easier for travelers to enjoy the park's scenic beauty without the hassle of driving.

The bus operates daily with up to eight services, offering a ‘day saver’ ticket for unlimited travel within the Trossachs area for £5.95. Additionally, free travel is available for those under 22 and over 60, aligning with national policies.

The introduction of this shuttle bus is part of the National Park Partnership Plan, which seeks to promote a nature-positive and carbon-negative environment. With a significant portion of park visitors currently relying on cars, this initiative is expected to greatly reduce congestion and enhance the overall visitor experience.

Local youth and businesses have praised the new service for its potential to boost tourism and provide more accessible travel options. Cordelia Murray-Brown, a youth committee member, noted that the bus allows teenagers to explore the park independently, while James Fraser, CEO of the Steamship Sir Walter Scott Trust, highlighted the improved access to outdoor activities.

Supported by Midland Bluebird and funded through partnerships with BMW UK and the Scottish Government, the Trossachs Explorer aims to set a precedent for sustainable travel in rural areas.
