New hotel in Turgutreis opens up another side of Bodrum
Holiday Inn plans to launch a 460-room resort in Turgutreis, a coastal town in the Bodrum district, by mid 2026. The project is a collaboration between IHG Hotels & Resorts and Uslu Turizm and will be located near the local marina. This marks the brand’s second resort in the area and reflects growing interest in Türkiye’s southwest coast as a year-round travel destination.
The resort will feature beach access, a pool, spa area and flexible accommodation plans depending on the season. All inclusive stays will be available during summer months, while more basic options will be offered in the off season. Its setting in Turgutreis is expected to attract visitors looking for a quieter alternative to Bodrum’s centre but still within reach of the sea and town life.
Just five minutes from the planned resort is Günbatımı Plajı, a public beach known for calm waters and uninterrupted sunset views. It’s a popular spot for evening walks or quiet swims away from busier beaches. Nearby, travellers can visit D-Marin’s open pier, where locals fish in the early morning and small food stalls serve gözleme and tea, offering a slower, lived-in feel not found in touristic centres.
On Saturdays, the Turgutreis Market takes over streets near Cumhuriyet Square with over 200 stalls. Tourists often stop for sun-dried figs, organic olives from local farms, and pestemal towels woven in nearby villages. A short walk away, the beachfront amphitheatre near Turgutreis Art Center becomes a casual gathering place in summer evenings, where travellers can listen to live Turkish pop without needing a ticket or reservation.
This new hotel gives independent travellers more choice on the less crowded side of the Bodrum peninsula. It reduces the pressure on central areas while placing visitors in a walkable town with real activity beyond resort walls. The project reflects a shift toward more flexible travel, where slow exploration and short walks can replace tight itineraries and long transfers.
