Northern Sardinia is preparing to launch its most comprehensive summer flight schedule on March 30, 2025, aiming to facilitate smoother air access across Europe and beyond. A total of 154 direct connections will link the region to 89 destinations, supported by six million seats and 43 operating airlines. This ambitious plan not only reflects the area’s growing demand but also positions Sardinia as a more accessible Mediterranean hub for seasonal travellers.

The summer programme introduces 11 new destinations and two additional carriers, enhancing connections from key airports like Olbia and Alghero. Olbia Costa Smeralda will operate flights to 81 cities, including fresh links to Edinburgh, Zurich, and Nuremberg. Meanwhile, Alghero will extend its reach to Belgrade, Sofia, Bordeaux, and Florence, marking a notable increase in both domestic and international travel routes throughout the island.

For visitors planning trips to Sardinia, these new routes unlock easier entry to a region known for its diversity in landscapes and culture. Travellers flying into Olbia can explore the rugged beauty of the Gallura countryside or relax on the turquoise shores of the Costa Smeralda without lengthy layovers. The newly added Figari-Olbia route also paves the way for two-island itineraries including Corsica and northern Sardinia.

Alghero's expanded network opens access to the island’s western coastline, where travellers can enjoy historic centres, Catalan architecture, and less-touristy beaches. New connections to Eastern Europe, such as Sofia and Belgrade, introduce direct travel options from regions that previously lacked convenient access to Sardinia. This shift may lead to new tourist inflow and a variety of tourism behaviour on the island.

Summer 2025 schedule is more than double flight numbers — it marks a change in the way of travel accessibility in Sardinia. In the end, it translates to quicker travel times for travellers; additional cross-border holiday opportunities; and more room to manoeuvre when it comes to off-peak getaways—making Sardinia a more attractive year-round destination.
