Ryanair has passed the one-million-passenger mark at Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO), marking a major milestone for the airline’s presence in the region. Around 20% of Ryanair passengers using FMO travel in from the Netherlands, underlining the airport’s role as a cross-border departure point. The figure reflects steady demand since Ryanair began operating at the airport in 2013.

The airline is currently operating its largest ever flight programme at FMO. Ryanair serves the airport with year-round routes to Palma de Mallorca, Málaga and Alicante in Spain, as well as London Stansted. Company representatives describe FMO as one of the few competitive regional airports in Germany, citing its accessibility and appeal to passengers from both Germany and neighbouring Dutch regions.

Airport officials have also welcomed the growth, noting that Ryanair plays a key role in the low-cost segment at FMO. According to the airport, the combination of leisure destinations and a major UK city has helped attract a broad mix of travellers. The strong share of Dutch passengers is seen as confirmation that the airport’s location and route network meet cross-border travel needs.

Easier access to popular European destinations

The expanded and stable route network improves access to several well-established holiday destinations. Year-round services support trips to Spanish beach resorts and city breaks in London, while seasonal flights planned for summer 2026 will add Corfu in Greece and Zadar on Croatia’s Adriatic coast. The airport’s short walking distances and nearby parking also make FMO a practical choice for travellers driving in from surrounding regions.

Ryanair’s continued expansion at Münster/Osnabrück highlights how regional airports can benefit from consistent low-cost operations. For travellers, the milestone signals long-term route stability, more choice for leisure travel, and a viable alternative to larger hubs. The growing share of international passengers suggests that FMO is becoming a recognised departure point beyond Germany, particularly for travellers seeking straightforward access to southern Europe.
