Nepal deported 459 foreign nationals in 2023 due to overstayed visas

Last year, Nepal deported 459 foreign nationals, while in 2022, the country deported 570 foreigners. The Department of Emigration reported that the reason for this was the overstayed visas of foreign visitors to the country.

In addition, it is known that despite the absence of a visa fee for Chinese tourists, Chinese citizens accounted for 47% of the total number of deported foreign nationals. This was reported by Online Khabar.

It is noted that foreigners entering Nepal must obtain a 15,30 or 90-day tourist visa, after which they can extend their visa. Thus, when foreign tourists' visas expire, they can extend their stay in the country for another 60 days and stay in Nepal for 150 days.

However, if the deadline for staying is exceeded and the foreign national does not have time to apply for a visa at that time, he or she will be deported. Eventually, foreigners can extend their visa or apply for another visa, including for study, work, marriage, or relationships.
