Direct Bus from St Andrews to Edinburgh Airport Starts in May

Stagecoach East Scotland announced plans to launch a new bus route, labeled JET787, directly linking St Andrews and Edinburgh Airport. This route will officially begin operation on Monday, May 5th, connecting several towns across Fife and Kinross, including Cupar, Auchtermuchty, and Kinross. The bus will serve the system running about every 2 hours on a half-hour mark that covers the entire day and night with early morning and late-evening departures.

The journey duration from St Andrews to Edinburgh Airport will be roughly 90 minutes, while travelers boarding from Kinross can expect around a 40-minute journey. Additionally, passengers can transfer at Kinross and Halbeath Park & Ride to access other established bus services throughout eastern Scotland. The route is designed to complement existing public transport services, notably the frequent JET747 route, already operating from Halbeath Park & Ride directly to the airport.

The establishment of this new link is purely a practical advantage in terms of increased regional connectivity. Previously, visitors, students, and local residents traveling from eastern Fife toward Edinburgh Airport typically had fewer direct travel options, requiring either private transportation or multiple transfers. This service provides easier and more direct passenger access, critical for those who are traveling with bags—the international visitor or student on the move between semesters.
