Starting 30 March 2026, Wizz Air will open a new route between Maastricht-Aachen Airport and Lublin, Poland, which will serve as the European Capital of Culture in 2029. Flights are planned twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, operated by Airbus A321neo aircraft. These modern planes use less fuel and produce less noise. The new connection adds another link from Maastricht, helping the airport develop as an active regional gateway.

The announcement follows Wizz Air’s recent partnership with Maastricht Aachen Airport, marking another step in its long-term development plan. In addition to the Lublin route, Wizz Air already connects Limburg Airport with Chisinau, Bucharest, Tuzla, and Katowice. The new link to Poland reflects the airline’s commitment to making European destinations more accessible and affordable for Dutch travellers.

"Even before their first flight from our airport, Wizz Air has already announced its fifth destination. This provides Wizz Air with a solid foundation for our passenger segment, from which we can continue to grow in the coming years, both with Wizz Air and with other airlines. Our colleagues are already gearing up to offer Wizz Air passengers a pleasant start or end to their journey."
Dean Boljuncic, Head of Commercial Development at Maastricht Aachen Airport

According to Maastricht Aachen Airport’s Head of Commercial Development, Dean Boljuncic, the fifth destination underlines strong momentum before Wizz Air’s first flight from the airport even takes off. The airline’s Corporate Communications Manager, Anastasia Novak, added that the route to Lublin continues Wizz Air’s focus on "convenient, low-cost travel options" and aims to "offer passengers a smooth and enjoyable journey from booking to arrival."

The new route opens the door to exploring Lublin’s historic Old Town, castle complex, and multicultural heritage, where Polish, Jewish, and Lithuanian influences meet. As the European Capital of Culture 2029, the city is preparing for a year filled with art, music, and urban revitalisation projects. From Maastricht, passengers can now reach this vibrant Polish city in just a few hours, discovering both its past and its creative present.

"This new route from Maastricht to Lublin reflects our continued commitment to offering passengers convenient and affordable travel options. Through our Customer First Compass initiative, we continue to put travelers at the heart of everything we do, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable journey from booking to arrival. This new connection offers Dutch travelers more opportunities to explore Lublin and its history. We are grateful for the growing number of travelers choosing Wizz Air, with many more exciting destinations on the horizon."
Anastasia Novak, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air

The new Maastricht–Lublin route shows how smaller airports are offering travellers more direct ways to move across Europe. Instead of relying only on major hubs, travellers now have more direct routes from smaller cities such as Maastricht, bringing convenience and new travel choices. For Limburg, this also means stronger economic links with Eastern Europe and fresh opportunities for cultural exchange. With Wizz Air adding more destinations and operating modern aircraft, the airport continues to grow as a regional gateway. Passengers, meanwhile, gain a simple way to reach one of Poland’s most distinctive cultural centres, combining history, architecture, and a lively calendar of events.
