Qatar Airways has suspended flights after Qatari airspace was closed, with operations set to restart once approval is given by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority. The airline confirmed that flights remain on hold until authorities declare conditions safe for reopening. A further operational update is scheduled for 3 March at 09:00 Doha time, as uncertainty continues across regional aviation networks.

The suspension affects departures and arrivals through Doha, one of the busiest global transit hubs linking Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Qatar Airways advised customers to check flight status through its official website or mobile application before travelling. The airline stated that operations will restart gradually once airspace restrictions are lifted and normal flight planning becomes possible again.

Current Operational Status

Airline guidance issued to passengers includes:

  • All Qatar Airways flights temporarily suspended
  • Operations dependent on airspace reopening approval
  • Next official update due 3 March at 09:00 Doha time
  • Passengers advised to monitor online flight updates

Hamad International Airport remains operational, though commercial flight movements are currently paused under national aviation directives.

The suspension has disrupted trips that rely on connections through Doha to destinations in Southeast Asia, the Indian Ocean region and parts of Africa. Travellers planning to transfer in Qatar may need to adjust travel dates after flights restart. Long-haul services using Doha as a connection point are likely to resume step by step once airspace restrictions are lifted and regular schedules return.

Temporary airspace closures highlight how quickly international travel can be affected by regional security decisions beyond airline control. Passengers with connections through Doha may experience delays as airlines reorganise flight schedules after reopening. Passengers are advised to check airline updates regularly and be prepared for possible schedule changes until confirmed departure times are reinstated on affected routes.
