Varna and Burgas Join German Summer Timetables

On 16 May 2025, planes from Germany touched down in Varna and Burgas, marking the start of a summer travel schedule run together by SunExpress and Electra Airways. The two airlines have teamed up to run regular flights connecting major cities in Germany with coastal parts of Bulgaria, making it easier for people to get there when travel is busiest in summer. Both airports welcomed the first flights with formal ceremonies to mark the beginning of the new schedule.
Under the new arrangement, 32 weekly flights are now operating from cities such as Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, and Stuttgart. Flights are handled by Electra Airways and can be booked through SunExpress and major travel operators. People can now pick from flights almost every day, so it’s easier to find a date that works with their personal plans and travel style.
Varna offers more than just a beach break. The city’s Archaeological Museum displays artefacts including some of the oldest worked gold ever found, offering a rare glimpse into early European history. Just outside the city, Aladzha Monastery clings to a cliffside, where old wall paintings still cling to the stone and narrow paths wind through what once was a quiet home for monks. The quiet setting adds a different pace to the region, away from the busy coastal spots.
In Burgas, the Sea Garden runs along the coast with tree lined paths, old monuments, and wide views of the bay. Locals use it for walks, gatherings, and small events on open air stages. Deeper in the city, the Ethnographic Museum is set in a restored wooden house and shows objects from daily life in the past, including handmade fabrics, tools, and traditional clothing.

These flights skip the usual stop in Sofia and take travellers straight to the coast, making the journey simpler and less of a puzzle to plan. With departures available on weekdays as well as weekends, the route supports short-term visits and greater scheduling flexibility. The expanded air links offer an additional option for those planning summer travel to the region.
