Sri Lanka has announced the deadlines for obtaining visas for citizens of Ukraine and Russia

In Sri Lanka, Ukrainian and Russian tourists have to extend their visas, which expired on February 23, 2024. The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) said that these tourists have been granted a 14-day grace period, which ends on March 7, 2024.

It is noted that during this time, citizens of these countries can officially extend their visas or return home. This was reported by Dailymirror.lk.

It is noted that since February 28, 2022, Sri Lanka has allowed people affected by the suspension of flights as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict to stay in the country for up to two years. In addition, the country did not impose fines on people with expired passports.

However, some representatives of the tourism sector have lodged complaints against tourists who are engaged in business activities in the country without following the necessary legal procedure. Such actions reportedly affected the business of local residents in this area.

This forced Sri Lanka's President Ranil Wickremesinghe to order an investigation into the notification to Russian and Ukrainian tourists, as it was issued without prior approval of the Cabinet of Ministers.
