Ryanair Cancels Flights to Israel Until End of September
Ryanair, the Ireland-based low-cost airline, has announced the cancellation of all its flights to Tel Aviv, Israel, until at least September 30. The decision, which affects flights from multiple European cities, was made in response to operational restrictions beyond the airline's control.
The cancellations impact flights to and from Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) and will disrupt travel plans from August 6 to September 30. Ryanair has informed its passengers of the situation through various communication channels, urging them to check the Ryanair app for updates on their flights.
Ryanair had initially scheduled flights to Tel Aviv from seven different European airports during August, including major hubs like Athens Airport (ATH) and Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER). Despite maintaining a relatively consistent summer schedule with up to 20 weekly flights, Ryanair's network to Tel Aviv has seen a significant year-on-year reduction.
This move aligns Ryanair with other major airlines that have also suspended or reduced flights to Israel due to escalating regional tensions. American Airlines, for example, has extended its suspension of flights to Tel Aviv until at least April 2025. Delta Air Lines and United Airlines have similarly pulled back their services, reflecting the uncertainty surrounding travel to the region.
The situation remains fluid, and while overall flight operations to Israel have not yet seen drastic cuts, there is a noticeable reduction in services compared to previous years. However, some airlines, like Israel's flag carrier EL AL, continue to increase capacity despite the challenges, showcasing the varied responses within the industry.
