Passengers of Air Canada will be able to track their luggage in a special application
Air Canada has added a new feature to its namesake app that enables real-time baggage tracking. This means travelers on flights from Canada to the United States can now monitor the exact location of their belongings.
Additionally, the app allows users to check the availability of mobility devices such as wheelchairs for travelers. This was reported by Simple Flying.
The new feature, long-awaited by passengers, was introduced in December of last year following incidents where luggage was delivered without passengers. Another unfortunate incident occurred in October on a flight from Toronto to Vancouver when the airline forgot a passenger's wheelchair, sparking outrage online.
The company took responsibility for these incidents and pledged to find solutions to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Air Canada believes that the new app feature will empower travelers to manage their journeys more effectively and keep track of their luggage.
According to a CTV survey, 59% of respondents reacted positively to the new initiative, expressing confidence in checking their luggage.
The Air Canada app is available for free on the carrier's official website.
