Passengers travelling through Salzburg will gain a new direct connection next summer, as GP Aviation launches twice-weekly flights to Pristina. The service begins on 29 March 2026 and will operate on Thursdays and Sundays. The route is aimed at holidaymakers, business passengers, and the large Kosovar community living in Austria. GP Aviation will use an Airbus A320 for the new link, which forms part of the airline’s expanding European network.

Salzburg Airport highlights long-standing demand for a nonstop service to Pristina, noting that many passengers currently rely on indirect connections. Airport representative Isabella Laimer said the new route strengthens Salzburg’s role as an important gateway for the region and provides welcome support for people with family ties to Kosovo. She also emphasised that cooperation with GP Aviation reflects steady interest in destinations across the Western Balkans.

The flights are already available on the GP Aviation website and common booking platforms. The airline describes the new link as suitable for tourists, families visiting relatives, and business travellers moving between the two regions. Salzburg joins a list of cities included in GP Aviation’s expanded summer schedule for 2026, alongside Vienna, Oslo, Brussels, and Bergamo. The aircraft type used on the route, the Airbus A320, offers a straightforward and comfortable direct option without the need for transfers.

The new route gives passengers easier access to cultural sites and natural places in and around Pristina and across Kosovo. Travellers can visit Pristina’s main spots, such as:

  • the city’s cafés and busy streets;
  • the Newborn monument;
  • the local museums that show Kosovo’s recent history.

Outside the city, there are more places worth the trip:

  • the Rugova Mountains offer walking routes and wide views;
  • Prizren has its stone bridges and a fortress above the old town;
  • Brezovica is a popular winter spot for skiing and time in the mountains.

With a direct flight, people can add these places to one trip without thinking about extra changes or stopovers on the way.

The rise in flight numbers comes as more people move between Austria and Kosovo for family visits, seasonal trips and work-related travel. The Salzburg-Pristina service adds a direct option during a season when routes often fill quickly. With GP Aviation adding more destinations to its network, passengers now have another clear and simple way to move between the two cities. For many, this means they can plan their trip without relying on connecting flights or longer detours.
