No more cameras: Airbnb will ban landlords from using cameras in their homes
Airbnb, a home-sharing and booking service, has changed its policy on surveillance cameras in homes. As a result, users who will rent out their homes through the service are prohibited from installing and using internal security cameras in global listings around the world.
In this way, the company emphasizes its priority in providing customers with privacy. The new rules are set to come into effect on April 30, 2024, according to the Airbnb press service.
It is noted that previously Airbnb allowed the use of internal security cameras in common areas, which were in no way placed in the bedroom or bathroom. However, the condition for this was a clear reminder of this directly on the listing page.
The company's updated policy will simplify the approach and clearly define the prohibition on the use of cameras regardless of their location, purpose or notification of their presence. At the same time, those hosts who violate the community rules may be excluded from the general list of ads or their account will be deleted from Airbnb.
