Eindhoven Gains Direct Flight to Sardinia Starting 2026
From April 2026, Transavia will begin operating direct flights between Eindhoven and Olbia, a city located on the northeastern coast of Sardinia. According to the airline, the flights are scheduled three times per week and will run throughout the summer season. This development increases the number of destinations available from Eindhoven and adds another international connection linking the southern Netherlands with Italy, which continues to be a popular market for European travel.
Olbia serves as an important transportation center in northern Sardinia, offering ferry connections, regional road access, and links to nearby resort destinations. The direct flight from Eindhoven makes it unnecessary for travelers to go through larger international airports, which usually means longer travel times and additional transfers. With this new route, Eindhoven now connects to nine Italian cities, showing the airport’s ongoing expansion of its European links.
The new service provides travelers with easier access to several notable areas on the island. A top destination is the Costa Smeralda, located on the northeastern coast and renowned for its stunning beaches and charming coves. From Olbia, visitors can also reach the Maddalena Archipelago, a group of islands noted for natural scenery and protected marine areas. Inland destinations include Gallura, a mountainous region with unusual rock formations and prehistoric archaeological remains.
Within Olbia itself, visitors encounter a mix of urban and cultural features. The city includes an active port, archaeological museums that display local finds, and a historic center with streets typical of Sardinian towns. During the summer season, numerous seasonal festivals and local events are held, giving visitors a variety of additional activities to enjoy.
