Direct Air Link from Varna to Milan Bergamo Returns

Wizz Air has resumed direct flights between Varna and Milan Bergamo, operating twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The relaunch coincides with the airline’s eighth year of operations at Varna Airport, which has handled nearly five million passengers since the base opened in 2017. The event took place at Terminal 2’s Gate Garden, an open-air gate area, representing recent updates in airport infrastructure. The route is part of the airline’s network expansion from Varna and provides direct access to Northern Italy.
The first flight on the resumed route departed last night, with regular services scheduled on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Key points for passengers include:
- Passenger vouchers: Eight travelers on the inaugural flight received 20 EUR vouchers valid for future Wizz Air travel.
- Existing destinations from Varna: London, Brussels, Tel Aviv, Hamburg, Eindhoven.
- Upcoming route: Bratislava, planned to begin on November 15.
“The resumption of flights to Milan Bergamo is an important step in expanding our network from Varna and a wonderful way to celebrate eight years of successful operations in the seaside capital. The symbolic surprise with the ‘pink tickets’ is our way of thanking the passengers who choose to fly with us and adding a dash of fun to their journey."
The resumed flights allow access to specific sites near Milan Bergamo. Travelers can visit Piazza Vecchia, the historic central square in Bergamo Alta, explore the fortified Cittadella di Bergamo, or use the Funicolare San Vigilio cable car to reach elevated viewpoints. These locations are accessible from the airport and can be visited during short trips or day visits, providing options for sightseeing and outdoor experiences.
Additional locations reachable from the area include Santa Maria Maggiore, Parco dei Colli di Bergamo, the Sentierone promenade, and Orto Botanico di Bergamo, a historic botanical garden. The Varna base added a second Airbus A321neo in spring 2025, which increased flight capacity and provided more predictable scheduling. With the twice-weekly flights back in operation, travelers can better plan trips to Northern Italy.

The resumption of direct flights to Milan Bergamo restores a link between Varna and Northern Italy. The route allows passengers to travel without connecting flights and maintains consistent service with two weekly departures. This route makes travel from the Northern Black Sea region more convenient, offering a consistent schedule that helps passengers organize both short visits and longer trips.
