Airports in the US that served travelers on time and those that experienced the most disruptions

According to new data from AirHelp, an airline claims company, the top five US air hubs that consistently provided uninterrupted and timely service to travelers in January 2024 have been identified. It also lists the five that experienced the most disruptions at the beginning of the new year.

According to new data, Sacramento International Airport in California (SMF) "was the best performing airport in January," The Sacramento Bee reports. "SMF, which is one of the busiest airports in the country, was able to deliver passengers with exceptional reliability," Airhelp said, according to the New York Post.

The airport in northern California had an uninterrupted on-time performance rate of 82.30%.

"All of us at SMF take great pride in minimizing the stresses traditionally associated with air travel," said Colm Marmion, Customer Service Manager at Sacramento International Airport.

"Providing our customers with the most enjoyable experience possible is always our priority," Marmion adds. "A big part of that is making sure that every border crossing point at the airport is easy and enjoyable."

The pleasant surprise comes shortly after an unrelated report warned that the future of air travel would be riddled with delays due to staff shortages and huge numbers of travelers.

On the other hand, the most prominent airport that "failed to provide its passengers with a hassle-free experience" last month was Buffalo Niagara International Airport in the Empire State.

The airport in western New York is located in an area that was hit by heavy lake-effect snow and other severe weather in January.
