The Air India flight that left Ahmedabad for London on 12 June 2025 barely got off the ground before things went horribly wrong, ending in a crash just moments after takeoff. Less than a minute after takeoff, the plane vanished from radar screens, having only climbed a bit above 600 feet before dropping off the map. Authorities have confirmed at least 204 fatalities, and all airport operations have been suspended while investigations and emergency efforts continue on the ground.

The aircraft reportedly came down in Meghani Nagar, a densely populated part of the city, striking a residential building housing medical staff. There were 242 people on board, including passengers and crew, with individuals from India, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Canada. One passenger from the UK survived and is now receiving treatment in hospital. Emergency crews remain on site, and early footage has led experts to question whether mechanical issues or flap settings may have played a role.

As soon as the crash occurred, Ahmedabad airport fell silent, and confusion swept through the terminals as everything suddenly stopped. Flights from nearby and far-off places suddenly froze or got rerouted, and passengers were left standing around terminals, unsure what to do or where to go. For many, this was not a matter of minor delay but a complete breakdown of carefully planned journeys, occurring just as the summer travel period intensified.

After the crash, a lot of people around the world are now wondering if getting on a plane is still as safe and reliable as they thought. It highlights how quickly plans can collapse when a key airport is shut down without warning. Following the crash, passengers seeking rebooking or updates encountered delays as services at the airport were suspended and rerouted. Travellers are being urged to check flight statuses frequently, remain flexible, and prepare for extended delays while authorities manage the aftermath and resume full operations.

The crash has left many international travellers uneasy, making them question how safe and dependable flying really is right now. It highlights how quickly plans can collapse when a key airport is shut down without warning. Travellers are being urged to check flight statuses frequently, remain flexible, and prepare for extended delays while authorities manage the aftermath and resume full operations.
