Wizz Air Opens a Montenegro Route from Ljubljana
Wizz Air has launched a new scheduled service between Ljubljana and Podgorica, adding Montenegro’s capital to the airport’s summer timetable. The airline will operate the route four times a week, with flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Wizz Air already connects Ljubljana with Skopje, and the new service strengthens its presence at Slovenia’s main airport.
The route adds another direct option for passengers travelling within the Western Balkans, while also supporting tourism and business links between Slovenia and Montenegro. Tickets are already available through the airline, with one-way fares starting at €14.99. Ljubljana Airport said the launch comes as the airport continues to build its summer network.
Podgorica is known for its access to the Adriatic coast, mountain scenery and a growing city tourism offer. Wizz Air said the destination gives passengers an easier way to reach Montenegro’s coastline, natural sites and cultural experiences. Fraport Slovenija also linked the route to stable passenger growth and stronger airline confidence in Ljubljana.
The new flights make Montenegro easier to reach for travellers planning trips to Podgorica, Lake Skadar, the Adriatic coast and mountain areas beyond the capital. The route can suit short breaks, family visits, business travel and summer holidays, especially for passengers who want a direct flight instead of building the journey around longer transfers.
The launch gives Ljubljana Airport another useful regional link at a busy point in the travel year. With around 30 direct destinations and additional charter flights available this summer, passengers have more choice than in recent seasons. Podgorica adds a nearby but varied option, mixing city access with coast, nature and onward travel across Montenegro.
