Vietnam’s travel and tourism sector is on track for a record-breaking year in 2024. The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) projects that the sector will contribute a staggering đ770.8 trillion to the national economy, surpassing pre-pandemic levels and highlighting the resilience and growth of the industry.

The WTTC research indicates that travel and tourism's contribution to Vietnam’s GDP will rise significantly, accounting for over 7% of the overall economy. Additionally, employment in the sector is expected to grow, supporting nearly 6 million jobs nationwide.

Domestic tourism is booming, with domestic travelers projected to spend a record đ434.7 trillion. Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO, praised Vietnam’s recovery, emphasizing the sector's role in driving economic growth and job creation. She noted that the country is on track to meet its 2030 Tourism Development Strategy goals, with almost 6 million jobs supported by tourism this year.

Vietnam offers a variety of travel experiences, from the bustling streets of Hanoi to the serene waters of Ha Long Bay. Visitors can explore ancient temples, enjoy the vibrant nightlife, and savor the local cuisine, known for its fresh ingredients and bold flavors. Adventure seekers can trek through the mountainous regions of Sapa or relax on the sandy beaches of Da Nang.

The tourism sector saw a significant recovery last year, with domestic visitor spending surpassing 2019 levels. The overall economic contribution of the sector nearly matched pre-pandemic figures, and employment in the sector grew substantially.

Looking ahead, with continued government support, WTTC forecasts that Vietnam's travel and tourism sector could continue to grow, potentially employing more than 7.7 million people by 2034. For those planning a visit, Vietnam promises a rich cultural experience and stunning natural landscapes, making it a top destination for travelers worldwide.
