Turkish Airlines launches its first flight to Australia

Turkish Airlines is launching its first flight to Australia.

Flights from Istanbul to Melbourne and back will start on March 15 with a frequency of three times a week: on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday, according to the carrier's official website.

For now, the flights are going to be operated on Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9 aircraft with refueling in Singapore. Later on, Turkish Airlines plans to put Airbus A350-1000 and Boeing 777X aircraft on the route. Then the flights will be non-stop.

A special price for flights from Istanbul to Melbourne to celebrate the launch of flights starts at $1199 roundtrip. It is valid for economy class for flights until May 15, 2024.

The Turkish airline has already received the necessary permits from the Australian authorities to launch flights. Melbourne became the first point in Australia because it has a large Turkish diaspora and is one of the country's largest shopping centers, Turkish Airlines noted.
