Germany is under an official severe weather warning as hurricane-force winds sweep across much of the country. The Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) has issued a level 3 alert out of 4, forecasting gusts of 100–120 km/h and up to 130 km/h in exposed coastal and mountain regions. The storm approaching from the southwest poses a direct threat to safety and may affect travelers' mobility, causing delays, flight cancellations, and damage to infrastructure on major transport routes.

The authorities warned that during the peak of the storm, there could be significant disruptions to rail, road, and air transport. Deutsche Bahn prepared for possible disruptions due to fallen trees or debris, and airports advised passengers to check flight information before departure. For travellers, this means potential delays, cancelled journeys, and temporary closures of public areas or attractions as local officials prioritise safety and emergency response operations.

Travellers in Germany are urged to follow official safety recommendations and remain indoors where possible. Several regions, including North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony, are closing parks, forest trails, and open-air spaces due to falling branches and debris hazards. Urban centres may also experience temporary restrictions in public transport and street access. Visitors should keep their belongings secure and stay updated by regularly following announcements from national weather services and local authorities.

Those already on the move should prepare for extended travel times and possible cancellations. Driving conditions are expected to worsen on highways and mountain roads, especially in exposed areas. Train users should check timetables, while bus and ferry passengers may face route changes. Preparing the necessary items and checking official updates helps travelers stay safe during a storm.

This storm alert demonstrates how volatile autumn weather can heavily affect travel across Europe. For travelers, it's a reminder to be flexible when making plans, avoid unnecessary trips during alerts, and only trust information from official weather sources. As the weather improves and winds ease, transport services are likely to gradually return to regular schedules, allowing safe travel throughout the country once again.
