On May 31, a special train journey to Kazanluk's Rose Festival is being organized by Bulgarian state railways BDZ and the municipality of Kazanluk. The route will run from Filipovo to Karlovo to Kazanluk, providing a unique travel experience.

The train, pulled by the historic steam locomotive 03.12, will depart from Filipovo station at 9.35am and is scheduled to arrive in Kazanluk at 12.10pm. This steam locomotive holds a significant place in Bulgarian history, connected with Tsar Boris III's family.

Upon reaching Kazanluk, passengers can explore the Rose Festival, which includes various attractions such as a creative workshop for children at the Rose Museum in Rosalium Park and the Balkan Culture and Culinary Festival at Sevtopolis Stadium.

Before the return trip, a concert featuring popular Bulgarian bands will take place at Kazanluk station. This is part of the traveling festival Concerts at the Station. The return journey will see the train leaving Kazanluk at 3.30pm and arriving back at Filipovo station by 6.35pm.

The train will also stop for half an hour at Karlovo station in both directions, offering passengers the opportunity to take photographs with the steam locomotive against the scenic backdrop of the Balkan Mountains.

Tickets for the round trip cost 45 leva, with a discount available for children up to 10 years old. Tickets can be purchased at ticket offices, railway offices, and online through BDZ's reservation and ticketing system.

This steam train trip provides an opportunity to enjoy the cultural festivities of Kazanluk’s Rose Festival while experiencing a piece of Bulgaria's railway history.
