Travelers planning visits to Belluno province and the Dolomites between September 14 and December 13, 2025, should note that train services on the Conegliano to Belluno and Calalzo to Pieve di Cadore to Cortina to Belluno lines will be temporarily halted. Although access may be temporarily limited, the upgrades will bring improved signaling, safer crossings, and modernized tracks. Future rail travel will become safer, smoother, and more dependable thanks to the upgrades, enhancing visitor experiences across the region’s mountains, lakes, and cultural sites.

Significant investments are being made to enhance travel on key routes, with a focus on benefiting tourists visiting popular destinations.

Ponte nelle Alpi to Calalzo (over €10.7 million):

  • Tunnel and viaduct maintenance
  • Protective work on rock faces
  • New underpass in Longarone
  • Raised platforms and renovated canopies
  • Restoration of a second track

Conegliano to Ponte nelle Alpi (€3.7 million):

  • New underpass in Vittorio Veneto
  • Track improvements and tunnel waterproofing
  • Slope and wall maintenance
  • Advanced safety system at the Ai Gai level crossing

Belluno to Ponte nelle Alpi (€6.6 million):

  • Track upgrades
  • Electrical system improvements
  • Signaling system enhancements

Travelers planning visits to natural and outdoor attractions may encounter difficulties reaching certain sites during the suspension. Access to hiking trails along the Piave River, the scenic Lake Centro del Cadore, and the Marmarole mountains will be restricted during the train service suspension. Similarly, visitors aiming for the Val di Zoldo ski slopes, the Alpe Lusia chairlift area, or the Forcella Staulanza trekking routes will need alternative transport. These interruptions may lengthen travel times, making access to outdoor activities and scenic spots in Belluno more challenging.

Routine maintenance along all affected lines will include vegetation clearing and railway infrastructure updates, which could affect access to other key sites. Visitors wishing to explore the Dolomiti Bellunesi natural park, the Soccher viewpoint trails, or the Tofana del Campanile climbing routes should plan carefully. While access may be temporarily affected, the works will bring improved signaling, safer crossings, and modernized tracks. Once finished, the improvements should make trips more dependable and comfortable, bringing lasting advantages for visitors and the community.

While rail services are paused, it’s a perfect opportunity to explore other transport routes and experience nearby towns and natural sights. Although train services will be suspended for several weeks, the upgrades are expected to deliver safer, quicker, and more reliable travel once finished. Visitors and daily travelers will see advantages from improved infrastructure, better-managed routes, and higher safety standards. Passengers are advised to check railway information or speak with station staff to avoid delays and make the most of Belluno’s natural and scenic areas.
