Newcastle–Berlin Route Returns, Making Short Summer Trips Easier
Eurowings will resume direct flights between Newcastle Airport and Berlin for a second summer season after strong passenger demand last year. The seasonal route will operate from May to October, restoring a direct link between northeast England and the German capital. Its return confirms Berlin’s status as one of the most popular European city-break destinations for travellers departing from Newcastle.
The seasonal service will run twice a week, with the updated schedule designed around short city breaks. Key details of the route include:
- flights operating on Thursdays and Sundays
- afternoon departures from Newcastle
- arrival in Berlin early enough for same-day plans
Fares for the route start from £48.94 one way, with timings that make three or four-day trips easier to organise around work or school schedules.
“Berlin is a key destination within our European network, and we’re pleased to continue offering travellers easy access to one of Europe’s most exciting capitals while further strengthening our partnership with Newcastle Airport."
Summer Festivals Drive Demand for Berlin Travel
The route gives travellers direct access to Berlin during some of its busiest cultural periods. In May, visitors can attend the Carnival of Cultures, a four-day festival centred around a large street parade featuring thousands of performers. The event also includes live music stages, dance shows, and international food stalls spread across central areas of the city.
In June, Berlin hosts the Fête de la Musique, when live concerts spread across streets, parks, and public squares throughout the city. Travellers arriving on a Thursday can experience concerts across neighbourhoods such as Mitte and Kreuzberg, while still having time to visit landmarks like the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, or spend an afternoon in Prenzlauer Berg’s café-lined streets.
With the service returning, travellers can reach a major European capital directly rather than building trips around connections. Flying nonstop shortens overall journey times and removes the extra planning often required when changing flights. For travellers in northeast England, the Berlin route adds another realistic summer option, while also improving access for visitors travelling from Germany to the region.
