Choice Hotels International, the world's leading hotel franchise company, has partnered with Tesla to provide universal Tesla wall plugs to select Radisson, Cambria, Comfort, Country Inn & Suites, Quality Inn and other Choice-branded hotels across the United States.
This initiative allows Choice affiliate hotels to install at least four electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to meet the growing need for EV charging stations. In addition, this will improve the travel experience for EV owners during business or leisure travel, travelandtourworld.com emphasizes.
"This agreement with Tesla allows our brands to stand out even more by expanding access to electric vehicle charging for guests and potentially driving additional revenue for hotel owners. At Choice, we are focused on ensuring that our hotel brand owners and operators are prepared to benefit from strategic agreements that drive deliberate bookings," said Dominic Dragisich, executive vice president of operations and chief global brand officer, Choice Hotels International.
With a portfolio of more than 7,500 hotels and more than 630,000 rooms in 46 countries and territories, Choice Hotels International is well equipped to meet the growing demand for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. In 2022, 82% of all rooms at Choice hotels were booked by guests arriving by car, well above the industry norm, according to DK Shifflet. The majority of Choice's U.S. properties are strategically located in suburbs, interstates and small towns, with 76% of them within one mile of a highway, improving accessibility for travelers.
Currently, 41% of Choice Cambria's upscale hotels have electric vehicle charging stations. It is expected that by the end of 2024, every Cambria hotel will be equipped with at least one electric vehicle charging station. And charging electric vehicles will be one of the three priorities. Additionally, several Choice corporate offices, including those in North Bethesda, Maryland, and Scottsdale, Arizona, already offer electric vehicle charging options.
The ChoiceHotels.com website and Choice Hotels mobile app, which have received high user satisfaction ratings, offer a convenient filter for finding hotels with electric vehicle charging. In addition, holders of Choice co-branded credit cards can benefit from increased rewards for using electric vehicle charging stations at Choice hotels. In particular, holders of Choice Privileges Select Mastercard will receive five times more points, and holders of Choice Privileges Mastercard will receive three times more points for using the electric car charging station service.
