For the winter season of 2025, Ryanair will operate 39 different flights from Birmingham Airport, introducing new options for travelers. The airline is set to begin flights to Rovaniemi in Lapland, Rome-Ciampino, and Salzburg, introducing these destinations to its network for the first time. The airline also plans to run 14 of its current routes more often to match seasonal passenger demand, improving convenience and connectivity for travelers. These changes reflect broader shifts in passenger demand throughout the winter and are intended to provide more convenient connections across Europe for travelers from the West Midlands region.

The new routes provide access to a variety of winter activities. Rovaniemi, situated above the Arctic Circle, is famous for its snowy scenery, northern lights, and winter activities like dog sledding and snowmobiling. Passengers arriving at Rome Ciampino Airport can quickly reach the city center to visit landmarks such as the Colosseum, the Vatican, and notable city squares. Salzburg combines classical music heritage with nearby alpine areas, offering both cultural tourism and winter sports opportunities.

“We welcome the news that Ryanair will be launching a route from Birmingham to Salzburg as part of their winter programme for 2025/26. Known as the ‘City of Music’, Salzburg offers easy access to some of Europe’s most popular ski resorts, as well as a wealth of cultural sights within the city itself."

Alongside these new destinations, increased frequencies on routes to Alicante, Barcelona, and Faro open possibilities for travelers seeking milder winter climates and coastal experiences. Alicante and Faro offer beaches, historic districts, and regional food, while Barcelona is recognized for its architecture, museums, and vibrant city life. Berlin and Krakow appeal to history buffs and those keen on cultural landmarks and seasonal events, whereas Madrid offers opportunities to explore art galleries, historic sites, and city life.

Passengers will also be able to visit smaller cities that are rich in cultural attractions. Salzburg is famous for its historic squares, Mozart's birthplace, and proximity to ski resorts in the Alps. In Krakow, visitors can explore medieval old towns as well as the surrounding natural scenery. Faro and Alicante provide seaside activities, local markets, and regional festivals, while Rome is rich in historical landmarks and cultural experiences. These options cater to a wide range of winter travel interests across Europe, from nature and adventure to cultural immersion.
