Loganair has started a new daily service between East Midlands Airport and Jersey, adding another direct link between the UK mainland and the Channel Islands. The first flight departed on Sunday 31 May, giving holidaymakers and island residents a regular summer option through one of the Midlands’ key regional airports.

The launch comes as East Midlands Airport prepares for a busier summer. The airport recorded its busiest day since Covid last week, with 10,418 departing passengers. During the May half-term period, 17,000 more people travelled through the airport than last year, suggesting demand remains strong for short-haul breaks and regional departures.

The Jersey route is part of Loganair’s wider Channel Islands expansion. The airline is also adding seasonal services to Norwich, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Bordeaux over a six-week period. Fares on the East Midlands service start at £94, while Loganair includes a 21kg baggage allowance as standard.

The route makes Jersey easier to reach for people across the Midlands, with beaches, coastal walks, St Helier and the island’s historic sites now available without a longer journey via another UK airport. It also gives Jersey residents better access to Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, the Peak District and onward rail links across central England.

For holidaymakers, the new service is a practical win rather than just another dot on a route map. Daily flights give more choice for short breaks, longer island stays and flexible return dates. With baggage included and the airport reporting fast security times, the route could make Jersey a simpler summer escape for Midlands-based customers.
