Berlin Gets Direct Sofia Flights
Wizz Air will launch a new service between Berlin Brandenburg Airport and Sofia this autumn, adding another Eastern European route to its BER network. Flights to the Bulgarian capital will begin on 20 September 2026 and operate four times a week. The route will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, according to the airport.
What Is Known About the Route
- New Berlin–Sofia Flights
- Starts on 20 September 2026
- Operated by Wizz Air
- Four flights a week
- Runs on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday
- Adds another Eastern European route at BER
The new Sofia service continues Wizz Air’s growth at Berlin Brandenburg. In the summer timetable, the airline added routes to Bratislava in Slovakia, Tuzla in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Cluj-Napoca and Timișoara in Romania. It has also increased frequencies on several existing routes, giving BER a wider low-cost network across Central and Eastern Europe.
The Berlin–Sofia route gives travellers another direct option between Germany and Bulgaria without changing planes. Sofia is useful for city breaks, business trips and visits to family or friends, while also serving as a gateway to Vitosha Mountain, Rila Monastery, Plovdiv and Bulgaria’s ski areas. The four weekly schedule leaves room for both short trips and longer stays.
The new service gives Berlin travellers a simpler way to reach Bulgaria outside the peak summer rush. Four weekly flights are enough for weekend breaks, family visits and work trips, without forcing every journey through another hub. The route also fits Wizz Air’s recent BER expansion, which has been focused mainly on Central and Eastern European cities.
