AirAsia Opens New Direct Route Unlocking Easier Access to Northern Vietnam’s Hidden Gems
AirAsia has launched a new nonstop route connecting Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok with Hai Phong International Airport in northern Vietnam. The decision puts focus on efforts to open up access to secondary cities, choosing Hai Phong over the more familiar airports in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Travelers now have quicker journeys, easier transfers, and can reach less-visited areas of northern Vietnam more directly.
Starting July 16, 2025, flights will operate four times weekly on the following days:
- Monday
- Wednesday
- Friday
- Sunday
The decision highlights a regional focus on improving connections to secondary cities, with Hai Phong selected instead of larger, more established hubs like Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.

The new direct link between Bangkok and Hai Phong offers quicker, more convenient access to the landscapes and cultural highlights of northern Vietnam.
