AirAsia Celebrates Global Ranking with Network-Wide Flight Promotions
On 19 June 2025, AirAsia revealed a gold-colored aircraft at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 to commemorate its 16th consecutive award as the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline by Skytrax. The debut of the updated aircraft design, which moves away from the traditional red and white, took place at an official ceremony. The updated livery highlights the airline’s global recognition and comes alongside a limited-time promotional campaign launched with the announcement.
In conjunction with the celebration, AirAsia has introduced a 16-day promotion offering discounted airfares, including special rates during a designated "Golden Hour" each afternoon. Bookings are available through the AirAsia MOVE app or the airline’s official website until 3 July 2025, with travel valid between 2 July 2025 and 31 March 2026. The promotion includes:
- Discounted fares
- Daily "Golden Hour" deals from 16:00 to 19:00
- Selected routes only
Promotional destinations featured in the campaign include:
- Kota Kinabalu
- Da Lat
- Krabi
- Jaipur
For individuals planning trips later this year or early next, the fare discounts may offer an opportunity to manage travel costs more effectively. With many routes included in the promotion, both short-haul and medium-haul flights become more accessible for those organizing leisure or essential travel. The extended booking window also allows more time to plan and secure lower prices across various travel periods, including holiday seasons and off-peak dates.
The updated livery is accompanied by modest design changes inside the aircraft cabin, including gold accent features. While these adjustments do not involve functional upgrades, they reflect a consistent branding approach tied to the anniversary. The core offering is intact, yet the design changes might bring a new atmosphere for returning passengers flying within Asia and to other destinations.
AirAsia’s continued recognition by Skytrax and its efforts to mark the occasion highlight how low-cost carriers are evolving their image and operations. Though it’s a symbolic gesture, it highlights the airline’s effort to stay connected to customer expectations and market trends. These changes may indicate that low-cost carriers are slowly evolving to offer not only affordable fares but also a more dependable overall travel experience.
