Why some passengers buy a ticket for a cruise without a cabin: a crew member revealed the horrifying reason
A crew member of a cruise ship has disclosed why many cruise passengers opt to purchase tickets for the onboard facilities without reserving a cabin. According to her, the primary reason is the presence of casinos.
In numerous Asian countries and other regions worldwide, gambling is prohibited by law, but such regulations do not apply in international waters. Sharing her account on TikTok, the user, who claims to have spent over a month at sea, recounted disturbing incidents aboard the ship.
She initiated her narrative by mentioning that individuals frequently leap overboard out of desperation during cruises. As per her account, the cause behind this action is the loss of all their money in the casino.
She recounted witnessing an entire family—a husband, wife, and two children—committing suicide onboard because the family's head had lost money in the casino.
According to a former cruise ship employee, many ships feature gambling venues. Often, when tourists lose or cannot afford a cabin, they end up sleeping in the corridors.
In the comments, the video's author further mentioned that following the incident of the mass suicide, the entire staff was deeply affected for several days. She pointed out that while they are accustomed to isolated incidents, they know what steps to take when a passenger tosses off their shoes and glasses while standing on the ship's edge.
As previously reported by TravelWise, a traveler who has taken more than 50 cruise trips expressed her opinion about the unlimited number of drinks offered by companies.
